Northfields Morris 2025 MayDay group with text v3.jpg

Northfields Morris was formed in September 2014 by a group of friends sharing an interest in continuing the old English tradition of Morris dancing. We are a Cotswolds mixed side of all ages and we dance Border too! We were originally taught by Elsie (who danced with Sharp Morris and the Belles of London City)

The group meets every Wednesday, 7-8:30pm near Northfields tube station. We learn new dances and refresh older ones to keep them alive and we enthusiastically wave hankies and clash sticks in time to live music provided by our talented musicians - Jane, Mary and Zoe.

Within the side we have a mix of experienced dancers and some who have only been dancing a few months.
We love to dance at festivals and events both locally and further afield in the UK and overseas.

We love to welcome new members - dancers and musicians - if you can move in time to music or play a good tune come and join us!

Beginnings of Northfields Morris.JPG

We've made multiple public appearances including Trafalgar Square, Central London, the South Bank of the River Thames in London, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Horsenden Hill Farm, Brentford Canal Festival, Blondin Festival, Chiswick Strand on the Green, Kew, Ealing Broadway, Hanwell Carnival to name but a few... and, more lyrically, the bluebell-filled woods in Perivale, where we harvest the hazel sticks we use in our dances.

In May 2023 Northfields Morris went international!

We were invited to dance in Germay at a local Morris Dance Festival and a new mascot, Horris the Morris horse joined our side, we've now enjoyed dancing in Germany four times. In August 2025 we travelled to Hungary to participate in the International Folklore Festival in Sárvár where we performed with professional dancers and musicians from all around the world!

We're always delighted with the enthusiastic response from our audiences, some of whom join us for a stick dance or our final jig, Shepherds Hey. We continue to receive invitations to dance from people who have watched us perform and it's great that we recruit new members each year!

Check out our Diary section to see where we're next dancing.
